About I Wander

ABOUT THIS BLOG:

Exasperated by run-of-the-mill features involving the same few destinations and topics in many travel publications, I decided to shortlist a few magazines some years back and send letters to their editors where I commended their well-written pieces but at the same time, lamented on the seemingly narrow and predictable themes that they usually write about. I also presented my ideas on topics that they could very well cover for their readers’ benefit in future issues.

I never heard back.

This blog therefore was created as a quasi-depository for some of these ideas, although this does not necessarily mean that everything written here is totally new. My primary intention is to open minds, one reader at a time. I hope to do this by writing about destinations and topics that are not usually in people’s holiday top-of-mind or to present unique angles to the more familiar ones. In between, I also try to provide what I hope are indispensable tips for people who are constantly on the move, regardless of the destination.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I am a male 20-something originally from the Philippines but currently alternating between Singapore and Manila. Having the Lion City as my base is very conducive for traveling – the airport has over 300 direct air connections worldwide. Add to that a multitude of budget airlines that are incessantly expanding their route networks and you’ve got the perfect formula for getaways on a shoestring.

Feel free to look around. Comments and suggestions on how this blog can be improved are very much welcome and appreciated!

Also, feel free to drop me a note via the Contact page. I personally make it a point to answer each and every email I receive so do let me know what’s on your mind!

  8. wow ! I’m actually planning on relocating to SG this summer if I could get a pretty good job but I am hesitant to leave our homeland because of my travels. But now that I read you post : “Having the Lion City as my home base is very conducive for traveling – the airport has over 300 direct air connections worldwide. “, I’ll probably reconsider. :) But of course I plan to still come back to the Philippines more often, besides, it’s just a few hours away from SG . thnx for sharing this info sobrah! :)

  22. Hey thanks for dropping by my blog! Yeah I hate it that magazines don’t even bother to reply, even though I’m almost a hundred percent sure they saw validity in your suggestions (and probably used some ideas!). Will be reading more of your blog posts to get some inspiration on where to travel next. The travel bug is biting again!
